rough collie rescue midlands

Avonvale Veterinary Centres have worked with Chris and Ros Dobson at Rough Collie Rescue (Midlands) for several years now. They run an excellent, caring and loving Collie Rescue for Rough and Smooth collies, always putting the needs of the dogs first.   They ensure all the dogs have had a full veterinary examination and that they are fully vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, neutered, had any necessary dental work as well as having a blood test before rehoming.   Any health problems found are treated prior to finding permanent homes.

Chris and Ros regularly spend evenings and weekends driving up and down Britain's motorway network to collect collies that the owner's can no longer keep within the household and to meet prospective "new homes".

If you are considering giving a loving home to a rough collie then give Chris and Ros a call.  They will give you an honest assessment of suitability of the dogs they currently have needing  homes.

If you are thinking of  making a donation, they are always in need of funds, which you can be sure will be well spent on the needs of the collies.

Here are extracts from just a few of the many letters we have received

over the years - what a difference a collie can make!

"Thank you so much.  Pips has made my life worth living again.

I just don't know what I would do without him."     Mrs S, Stratford-upon-Avon

"I don't know what I would have done without Brandy after my wife passed away - he helped to keep some routine to my life.

He's a great pal to have around!"     Mr A, Worcester

"From the day that Ted first walked into the house,

I knew we were going to be great friends.

It's fantastic how quickly he has settled into our routine and I couldn't imagine life without him now."     MB, Solihull

"Adopting an older collie was the best thing we did - no damp patches on the carpet, no damage around the house, no big holes in the garden.  Just a faithful friend who asked for nothing but we made sure he had everything."

Mr & Mrs W, Shropshire

"We still can't believe that so many lovely collies end up not being wanted.

We can't thank  you enough for allowing us to adopt Zac - he has brought such richness to our lives"    The Watts Family

"We just wanted to let you know that Connie and Lenny have settled

in really well with Paddy and Penny.  We sit for hours on the patio

watching them all play in the paddock - keep up the good work!"

Mr & Mrs E, Long Compton

"Rupert is possibly the nicest rough collie I have ever owned

- I find it hard to understand why he ended up as a stray."    Mr Y, Clifton-on-Teme

"Taking on a rescue collie has been one of the most enjoyable and pleasurable experiences - we know we may only have Shelley for a few years but, after everything she's been through, it's her happiness that counts, not ours!"

Mr & Mrs R, Evesham

"We're not sure whether having Barney from your organisation back in

1991 was such a good idea.  Since learning about Rough Collie Rescue

and witnessing how much this beautiful breed has been let down by

mankind, our canine family has grown from one to three.

Stanley, Joe and Mishka can be hard work at times but we would

definitely not be without them!"     J & D, Worcestershire

"Please accept this donation as a token of our appreciation for all the

good work you do for the collies.  We are no longer in a position to take on another collie but it will give us immense pleasure to know that our financial support will help to make a better life for one of the many unfortunate collies that come into your care each year."      Mr & Mrs W, Dudley
