Most of our income is derived from hands-on fundraising activities (car-boots, market stalls, taking space at fetes, bazaars, etc.), participating in the Annual Draws organised by Canine Friends (see separate page) and donations from well-wishers and people adopting our dogs.
Most years, we have a number of dogs requiring extensive veterinary attention and, needless to say, our funds take rather a battering. On average, we are spending between £4,000 and £5,000 on veterinary fees, food and grooming equipment every year.
We do not insist on donations from adoptive owners as many of the dogs are middle-aged and elderly and will require veterinary care on a more regular basis than younger dogs.
Individual donations that we receive very rarely cover the amount spent on one dog and we prefer donors to look upon their donation as helping another dog which will unfortunately and undoubtedly come into rescue in the not too distant future.
Donations are given at the adoptive owner's discretion – we are more concerned that the dog is going to a caring and permanent home.
